Blessed, Rasta People! We are here with the fresh and exciting news from the world of reggae. The album "Colors of Royal" by Julian "Juju" Marley, in collaboration with Antaeus, has won the coveted 2024 Grammy for Best Reggae Album.
During the Grammy Awards ceremony, held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday, February 5, Patti Austin joyfully announced that "Colors of Royal" stood out among the competition.
Although Julian Marley himself, currently touring Australian lands, could not be present, the producer of Greek origin, Alexx Antaeus, received the award on his behalf. With gratitude, Antaeus expressed his gratitude to the academy, his colleagues, his mother and his wife Hana. But most importantly, he dedicated this victory to the people of Jamaica.
"And I would like to dedicate this to the people of Jamaica, who have accepted me as one of their own. And have lived by the country's motto, 'Out of many, one,'" Antaeus said, radiating love and respect for the land of reggae.
Released via Antaeus' Monom Records label in March 2023, "Colors of Royal," with its 8 powerful tracks, marked the producer's first Grammy nomination. Featuring contributions from prominent dancehall producer NotNice, as well as Mr. Sonic, Sean Alaric and Prince Productions, the album carries gems such as "The Tide Is High", "Roll" and "Made For Your Love".
This achievement marks the third nomination for Julian Marley, who was previously recognized for the albums "Awake" in 2009 and "As I Am" in 2020. Recall that his brother, Stephen Marley, took the award in 2009 for the acoustic version of "Mind Control", while in 2020, it was Koffee who won for his EP "Rapture".
