Antidoping returns to Guadalajara with La Era del León Tour

Antidoping is not a band that needs introduction in the Mexican reggae scene — 34 years of experience founded in Coyoacán support that. But it is at a pivotal moment: after its historic passage through Jamaica during Reggae Month and at Rototom Sunsplash in Spain, the project enters a new stage under the name La Era del León, with Ras Jahshua as the new lead voice. As summed up by Manuel Apodaca himself, co-founder of the band:

"What we experienced in Jamaica and at Rototom reminded us why we started this path. We returned with another perspective and with the desire to continue growing."

On Saturday, October 24, that new stage lands at the Foro Independencia, a venue with capacity for almost 500 people — intimate enough so that the energy feels close, and small enough so that whoever wants a ticket won't fall asleep. It is not the first time that Antidoping plays in Guadalajara: last year they performed at C3, with La Yaga as a guest. This date, however, has an extra ingredient: it is part of #LaEscenaNosUne, the initiative with which Antidoping has been adding talent from different cities and countries to its tour based on recommendations from its own community.

For tonight, the support lineup brings together Ohmyjah Reggae Band (Irapuato, Gto), Crixta Christian (Argentina/Puebla), Johky (Colombia/Guadalajara) and Erick Tepexicuapan (Texcoco, EdoMex) — a sign that the Mexican and Latin American reggae scene continues to connect dots between cities that don't normally share a lineup.

After 34 years, Antidoping continues to demonstrate that evolution is also part of its identity — and that Mexican reggae can reinvent itself without losing its roots. This stop in Guadalajara brings together just that mix: a historic band in full renewal, emerging talent from different regions, and a community that continues to connect points throughout the country and Latin America.
